The Role and ResponsibilitiesThe firm is looking for a permanent full-time Legal Cashier to join their active finance department based in Liverpool, covering a range of legal transactions. This position plays an important role in the smooth running of our legal practice, so strong organisational skills and legal cashiering experience is a must. To have gained the relevant experience to fit the role the candidate ideally would have a minimum of 3 years legal cashiering experience.
Those who excel in the role will also be skilled multi-taskers and team players who are able to work under pressure. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, tenacious individual with a real eye for detail and take pride in their work. They will be capable of working independently and as part of the support team. They will need to demonstrate good IT skills and should be able to demonstrateexperience in the areas listed below:
• Client and office accounts• SRA accounts rules, annual audits, and inspections• Banking• Legal accounts software• VAT returns• End to end credit control process, aged debt control and debt collection
They will be responsible for some of the following duties, but not limited to due to the nature of working in a fast-paced environment on occasion employees are required to assist with additional administrative tasks outside of their job specification:
• Processing and posting all account transactions, both inbound and outbound payments including cheque and BACS/TT, receipts for office and client accounts• Answer accounts queries by email and telephone internal and external• Processing card payments• Performing bank reconciliations to tally up bank accounts and ledgers• Client to office bank transfers• Process supplier invoices• Maintain unpresented cheques• Petty cash maintenance• Producing daily, weekly, and monthly reports on the financial status of the law firm using legal accounts software• Invoicing clients for work done across all department whilst also having confidence and persistence in chasing aged debts within agreed terms• Ability to reconcile complex client ledgers and maintaining them daily• Submitting and processing payments for quarterly VAT returns• Checking for errors and reporting any account breaches• Ensuring compliance with relevant solicitor’s accounts rules• Risk management to comply with money laundering regulations• Liaising with compliance officers, clients, auditors, regulators, suppliers, and banks• General administration tasks

Requirements• You will ideally have minimum of 3 years legal cashiering experience• As the appointed Legal Cashier, you will have proven experience in all aspects of cashiering and bookkeeping.• You will be a conscientious, self-motivated, trustworthy, hardworking, responsive individual with critical thinking abilities and excellent communication, organisation, and analytical skills whilst also being able to work on your own initiatives as part of the finance team
