Glenville Walker and Partners are pleased to announce that Joanna Sproson, Trainee Solicitor has been promoted to Solicitor as the firm continues to support and invest in the next generation of elite business lawyers.
Since incorporation, Glenville Walker and Partners have continued to promote a wealth of talent with the aim of inspiring and investing in the next generation of solicitors. The firm has a national presence for delivering specialist business advice in areas such as corporate law, litigation, intellectual property, commercial law, and commercial property with an expert team that helps solve all business focused legal issues. The team is led by Denise Walker, Director and Head of Business Law, who is recognised in Chambers and is also features in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame. Denise uses her many years of experience to support, lead and inspire individuals to be the best quality corporate lawyers on the market. Joanna’s recent promotion strengthens the firm’s ability to handle the rapidly growing number of corporate and commercial transactions generating from within the firm’s client base.
Joanna began her training contract at Glenville Walker and Partners in April 2021 in the midst of the pandemic. She sparked an interest in the firm following a meeting with Denise to obtain career advice whilst studying towards her Legal Practice Course back in 2017. She stated that Denise was extremely helpful and down to earth, mentoring her through each stage of her career. Prior to this period, Joanna was already aware of Denise’s great reputation in the corporate world, so when the opportunity arose to work at Glenville Walker and Partners, she grabbed it with both hands. Shadowing Denise has allowed her to gain quality knowledge and experience at such a high level, enabling her to feel confident handing advice for owner managed businesses of all sizes across the UK.
As a corporate solicitor, Joanna enjoys working with small to medium sized businesses on all matters of business transactions whether that be mergers, acquisitions and disposals, business restructuring and reorganisation or corporate governance. So far, she has worked with businesses covering a whole host of sectors including construction, technology, engineering, logistics, hospitality and care homes. Joanna is especially proud of two cases since starting at the firm; an acquisition of an independent financial advisory firm which was her first independently led transaction as a trainee. Following such success Joanna became responsible for drafting and negotiating on larger transactions with close supervision. The second case involved drafting commercial contracts for a North-West hospitality business. Joanna enjoyed get involved in this transaction as it enabled her to watch the client’s aspirations come to life alongside preparing the contracts required to operate the business.

As Joanna transitions as a qualified solicitor the learning never stops at Glenville Walker and Partners. She hopes to carry on growing as a practitioner and building on her experience so that she can continue to move through the ranks at the firm.
