As Glenville Walker marks its tenth anniversary, we are growing at pace. Over the past year we have welcomed new partners, broadened our services and deepened our reach across the North West. That growth is deliberate. We set out to build a commercial law firm that owner-managed and high-growth businesses across the Liverpool City Region could rely on, and demand for that kind of straight-talking advice keeps rising.
But ambition on its own does not sustain a firm. People do. So the part of our strategy I care most about is the one that rarely makes headlines: growing the next generation of lawyers.
The legal profession has a habit of buying in ready-made talent from elsewhere. We take a different view. We would rather develop our own, giving early-career solicitors real responsibility, genuine client contact and the commercial grounding that classroom learning cannot teach. We are building a team that mixes seasoned expertise with rising talent, so that knowledge passes down rather than walks out of the door.
This matters for more than one firm. The Liverpool City Region is full of businesses with serious growth ambitions, and they need advisers who understand commercial reality, not just the letter of the law. If we want those businesses to stay, scale and create jobs here, we have to grow the professional talent to support them here too.
That is the quiet pipeline behind the headline deals. Investment and infrastructure rightly draw attention, but the region's long-term prosperity also depends on the people coming through, the trainees and junior solicitors who will be advising the next wave of founders a decade from now.
At Glenville Walker we are investing in exactly that. Turning complex legal problems into simple solutions is our promise to clients. Building the talent to keep that promise is our commitment to the region.
